STOP PRESS!

March 2009 - We’re back!

Firstly, we’d like to apologise for the long period of ‘silence’, but the reality is that – for the time being at least – our venture exists because we have other work which pays for it and so time can be something of a luxury item.

However, we are delighted to advise that we have been working through a long winter and a global credit crunch to produce our latest title, a superb new study on the life of Manfred von Richthofen, arguably the most famous fighter pilot of all time. The author, James F. Miller has produced an outstanding and fresh account which reassesses a number of apparently persistent myths.

James’ book also includes his beautiful aircraft artwork and we hope to publish an interview with James on the production of this artwork for the book and his reasons for writing it. Watch this space.

In concluding, we would like to assure all our customers that we are in discussion with several parties over some truly exciting new future publishing projects. It may be that over time, our ‘acorn’ will grow into an ‘oak tree’, but that depends on what we publish, how we produce it and whether it sells. We are not a ‘sausage factory’ and our philosophy is to produce books covering subjects of interest that would perhaps not ordinarily be published in a larger book format by other publishers.

The elite pilots of Jasta 11 pose at Roucourt in mid-to-late April, 1917 with Manfred von Richthofen centre. From left to right around Richthofen: Sebastian Festner, Karl Emil Schäfer, Lothar von Richthofen, and Kurt Wolff. By the end of April these pilots combined victory total had reached 139 enemy aircraft shot down, although Festner would be shot down and killed on the 25th.
